Safety Tips

1) The east side of the mountain gets less sun and therefore more ice.

2) Try to drive in the day, less drunk drivers.

3) Use studded tires or chains when hitting ice or snow

4) Lees Camp on Rt 6 is where deer & elk cross.

5) An elk is as big as a horse and blend into the landscape which makes them hard to see. So keep an extra eye out for them.

6) Brown's Camp (Hwy 6) can also be icy.

7) The mountain pass is known for micro - climates and therefore you can be on a dry road and 1 minute later be on pure black ice etc....

8) Always supervise your children at the beach as the Oregon Coast has a history of accidents due to sneaker waves.

9) Never turn your back on the ocean.

10) Don't swim in cold water without a wetsuit &/or proper training.

11) When hiking always let someone know where you'll be.
